Data centre campus, 110 MW, Taiwan

Problem
scope power and storage for a 110 MW data centre campus under Taiwan's high voltage time of use structure.

Work
  • assessed how storage fits a large, high load factor site, and identified where behind the meter value exists under the high voltage tariff.

load factor compresses the case

a high, steady load factor leaves a narrower gap between peak and average demand than lower load factor industrial sites, so the pool of behind the meter value available to storage is smaller in proportion to the site's size.

Consequence
the scoping work flagged resilience value and grid interconnection timing as more material to the project than time of use arbitrage.
